An introduction to simple background, middle ground and foreground elements.
Description: This is a three day workshop in which the participant will learn to build a pleasing machine- stitched and quilted representational composition using a variety of techniques, with an emphasis on depicting aquatic Australian bird life. Two designs available.
Aims: To teach several techniques that may be employed in creating simple textile artworks with pleasing compositions.
Objectives: students will learn
1. How to select and prepare fabrics, then stitch a background, using free motion stitching
2. Techniques for building mid and foreground components, and develop the main subject matter. How to add details to bring the subjects and surroundings to life.
3. It is anticipated that the participants will go home with a small but almost complete piece, ready for sandwiching and quilting. The participants will have sufficient knowledge to complete the work in their own time after the end of the workshop.
